Got Dry Skin? Make Oil Your Best Friend

I've found a lasting solution to my very dry body skin in the winter months: Every I thoroughly message my favorite body oil into my skin immediately after showering.
TRY THIS:
Roughly towel dry first, leaving your skin slightly damp, then apply the oil.
I top it off with a layer of body lotion or cream. This double treatment acts as a protective barrier: It prevents the moisture that you already have in your skin from evaporating and locks in the moisture you've just received from the shower or bath. This procedure works so well that I rarely have winter-dry, itchy skin anymore!

MATURE SKIN: Characteristics.
Skin can generally be referred to as being mature when you can detect an apparent loss of tone and the skin exhibits a crepe-like texture: It's saggy and loose with many fine lines at least a few shallow or even deep wrinkles. Most of the time such skin is found in people over the age of fifty, as a part of the natural aging process, but I've seen mature skin on individuals as young as their early forties, and, for the lucky few these signs don't reveal themselves until the early sixties. Good genes, plenty of natural oil in the skin, a healthy lifestyle and a sound nutrition, and proper consistent skin care all determine when or to what extent mature skin appears.
CARE RECOMMENDATIONS:
Moisture retention is a key to preventing the rapid increase to fine lines and wrinkle depth, so it's important not to use drying soap, especially on the face. Remember that the collagen and elastin matrix within the dermis layer depends on consistent hydration to maintain the plumpness.
For facial cleansing, use a gentle lotion or a cream cleanser once or twice a day if you have dry skin or a lighter lotion cleanser if your skin is normal to oily. Finley ground oats, milk or dairy cream, and fat-rich sunflower seeds make super-moisturizing cleansers for face or body.
Use a clear glycerin or super-fatted soap on the body only, unless you have normal to dry skin.

I'M GOING TO GIVE A BASIC RECIPE FOR COLD CREAM and MAKEUP REMOVER!
I use this primarily as a makeup remover for heavy stag makeup, but it doubles as a terrific ultra-thick
moisturizing foot and "flaky shin" cream.

1 tablespoon jojoba base oil
7 tablespoons pure vegetable shortening (NO LARD please)
10 drops lavender or Roman chamomile essential oil

RECOMMENDED: normal, dry, sensitive, mature, or environmentally damaged skin
USE: daily
FOLLOW WITH: astringent or toner
PREP TIME: 20 to 30 min.
TOOLS: small spoon or whisk
STORE IN: plastic or glass jar
YIELD: 1/2 cup

DIRECTIONS: In a small sauce pan over low heat or in a double broiler, warm the oil and shortening until the two have completely melted. Remove from heat and allow to cool for 5 to 10 minutes. Add the essential oil, and then begin stirring with a small spoon or a whisk until the mixture begins to thicken and become opaque. Poor into storage jars and cap. Give it a couple of hours to set up or you can put it in the fridge for 30 minutes and it will attain It's thick, creamy consistency. Please use within 6-12 months. No refrigeration is required.
APPLY: Use a cleansing cloth, cleansing pad, or your fingers, apply approximately 1/2 to 1 teaspoon to cover entire face, throat.
